Role of Luck in Startup Success

A lot of startups work in the same domain. They are run by good teams and come in around the same time. However, only a few are able to scale up. So yes, I feel that luck does play a role. But the importance we give to it at times is not justified and there are other factors which play bigger roles in a startup’s success.

To break it down, the following are factors alongwith the importance (in percentage) they have in a successful startup.

The Idea – 30%

The Team – 50%

Luck - 20%

So luck does play a role but is not as significant.
