With the awareness of the startup ecosystem and the
numerable number of success stories we hear nowadays, a lot of college students
are taking up to entrepreneurship. I feel starting a venture in college has a
lot of benefits.
You Start Early: Entrepreneurship can be learnt by doing. So
the earlier you start, the more you can learn.
Hand-holding: Every college is now trying to promote
entrepreneurial activity and giving budding entrepreneurs a lot of support.
Network Benefits: Entrepreneurs in college can gain access
to the alumni database of the college and can learn and benefit from it. Also
the faculty being senior guys from Industry/Academics can assist you in your
startup.
Host of Competitions: We see a lot of business plan and
startup activity and competitions for college students. Being in college, you
can participate in these.
Finding Team Members: It is easier to identify potential
team members as you already know of a lot of people in college.
So
if you are in college or are about to join one, think of an idea which
interests you and try to benefit from the remaining time you will spend in the
college.
